The focus of Kiwi Young Leaders is to give members hands on experience participating in, organising, leading and creating projects and activities, while they are in Korea.  These projects will give Kiwi Young Leaders members an edge over others and provide New Zealand with a future pool of individuals experienced in Korea.

The objective of Kiwi Young Leaders’ Projects is to support members career goals. Therefore Kiwi Young Leaders will help members propose and manage projects tailored to their career goals.

If you have an idea for a project and would like some assistance exploring the idea then please contact us.

Kiwi Young Leaders

Kiwi Young Leaders is the first hands on project for Kiwi Young Leaders members.

Managing Kiwi Young Leaders involves forming relationships with a wide range of organisations and individuals both in Korea and without. It requires advertising the initiative through various means and  media, as well as developing and implementing promotional plans.

At Kiwi Chamber events Kiwi Young Leaders will be tasked with ensuring new members are made to feel welcome and included and, most importantly, introducing new members to leading members of the New Zealand-Korea business network. This will require forming relationships with those people.

Project Import

importProject Import is a Kiwi Young Leaders project for members that want to explore importing into Korea from New Zealand.

The group is currently working through the stages of importing into Korea with the goal of learning and experiencing the process first-hand. Areas covered include market research, business and exposure to import procedures such as customs requirements, tariff calculations and storage options.

Here you can find out more regarding Project Import, details for team meetings and the latest updates.

Updates

  1. We have just started Project Import so we are looking for interested members. If you want to participate in the project or want more information then email us.
  2. The next meeting will be towards the start of October.
  3. Currently members are working on market research for the chosen product type (email for more information on the product we have chosen)

More about Project Import

Project Import provides a framework and support for members to learn more about the importing process.

For commited members the end result is a case study of how to import a specific New Zealand product into Korea. Knowledge that could then be used practically, for instance bringing a small amount of a product into Korea.

Members benefit from participating in Project Import through:

  • Interaction with individuals and organisations with import experience.
  • Meeting other individuals interested in trade opportunities.
  • Learning the customs processes.
  • Learning customs requirements for various New Zealand products,
  • Learning the steps a product takes from New Zealand to Korea.
  • Exposure to the government organisations (New Zealand and Korean) that oversee import and export
  • Researching the costs of importing, in particular the effect of duties and taxes.

If you are interested in this project email us.

New Zealand English Teachers Network

There are a large amount of New Zealand English teachers in Korea and they lack a support network of Kiwis, who can share information, share contacts and share their experience.

Kiwi Young Leaders believes New Zealand English teachers would benefit from a dedicated network.  Kiwi Young Leaders is in the process of forming this network and it’s initial activities.

Kiwis in Korea Interview Series

Every Kiwi here in Korea has an interesting story. We have Kiwi teachers, students, business people, business owners, entrepreneurs, some who have lived here for 10 years, some who have just arrived and some who are married and living here with a family. So many stories and Kiwi Young Leaders wants to find them and share them.

We are currently looking for people willing to share their stories. If you would like to share your story or know someone else who does, please email us.
