The Kiwi Chamber – Punching above its weight
Dr. Tony Garrett, Chairman, The Kiwi Chamber Interview
Since its inception in November 2008, The Kiwi Chamber has continued to grow and thrive – and is well positioned for a great future. Even during the absence of in-person events due to the COVID-19 pandemic the chamber remained strong, a testament to the continued support of loyal sponsors, dedicated board of directors and supporting organisations like New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) and the New Zealand Embassy.

The chamber has never lost a step and a huge part of this is due to the rock-solid leadership of Dr. Tony Garrett, Chairman of the Kiwi Chamber. Over his six-year tenure, he along with a strong board have provided the necessary stability and guidance for growth and has enhanced chamber’s mission of promoting the Korean market to Kiwi firms and the New Zealand market to Korean companies, along with showcasing the rich sporting heritage and culture that New Zealand has to offer.

Often forgotten is that Dr. Garrett has a regular job aside from his voluntary role at the chamber.
He is a tenured professor of marketing at Korea University, which is recognised as one of Korea’s top three universities. His deep experience in academia coupled with his knowledge of Korean business and the ongoing Korean-New Zealand partnership has gone a long way in helping develop the chamber.
With the help of a strong board of directors and team of supporters, Dr. Garrett has leveraged this expertise to help create a path for success for the Kiwi Chamber.
The Kiwi Chamber Inspire with Innovation Breakfast Forum 2018
Celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations between Korea and New Zealand in 2022, the Kiwi Chamber renewed its famous New Zealand Wine Festival events in Seoul and Busan after a two-year hiatus.
Both festivals were a huge success with over 500 guests attending in Seoul and 350 in Busan – showing everyone that the Kiwi Chamber is back! For the second half of the year, the chamber will continue with its popular Inspire with Innovation breakfasts and occasional Hui events, all leading up to the ‘The Big One’ in November – The Year End Grand Hui. The Kiwi Chamber is in good hands and is ascendant in the local business community.
